youth to passion ~ passion to purpose

Born in East Setauket, New York, Diane’s love affair with the bloody mary began at a very young age. On warm summer weekends, her family would gather at “Pop-Pop’s” house for a traditional “east coast clambake.”

Pop-Pop, as he was affectionately called, captivated everyone with his enchanting childhood stories while simultaneously executing the feast for the day. With a giant hole in the ground, partially filled with firewood and large soft rocks, the fire was set. Once the wood burned to coals, layers of wet seaweed were then placed on the hot rocks as a platform that allowed steam and smoke to release the delicious charred flavor of the seafood elements ... it was quite a site.

What accompanied this seafood extravaganza was a plastic covered picnic table that featured a combination of adult and kid beverages including soda pop, lemonade and chocolate Yoo-Hoos® for the kids, and a collection of brand spirits, buckets of beer and chilled wine for the adults. Next to all of that, an array of pickled vegetables, hot sauces, and tomato juices - all the makings for a bloody mary (another east coast favorite), and this is where Diane had her first taste of this iconic beverage and that was it – LOVE at first sip!

girl meets boy:
two sides ~ one story

In 1990, Diane falls in love and marries a young man by the name of Michael Mina. Together they share a great passion and desire to go beyond the standards in the hospitality industry focusing on food & beverage. Partners in marriage and in business.
In 2004, Michael and Diane Mina founded the restaurant company, Mina Group LLC in San Francisco California which owns and operates 30 restaurants across the globe.
In 2010, they found a small ranchette spanning a little over 2.5 acres in West Marin’s intimate town of Nicasio. This is where Diane immediately became a large-garden grower. With the help of a local landscape designer, Diane planted over 200 varietals of tomatoes, herbaceous herbs and chili peppers. This idyllic setting is where Diane strengthened her knowledge and palate creating the foundation to launch, Diane Mina's Garden Grown Blends® that you enjoy today.
